How Search Engine Optimization Works

If you are tired of having no traffic on your website, you need not worry because thanks to Search Engine Optimization (SEO), you can market your products and services effectively. You will be able to get returns on your investment since there are many benefits to SEO. For starters, you can have what is called a landing page, which is a specially designed webpage on your website that is rich in keywords and other search engine considerations.

What this means is that whenever search engines are searching for content that is related to what a user is searching for, it will most likely land on your page. Your landing page will be used with search engines in mind, and your business will be able to highlight your webpage’s main content or they can search for other sections on the website.

When search engines are performing their task, they look for key words, and if you are able to have content with these key words repeated in four to seven percent of the body of the content, you will have search engines crawling for resources on your website. It is also important for you to use long tail keywords that are narrower and have less competition when people search for information on the internet.

For your business to be able to generate traffic and increase sales, you will need sitemaps and inbound links. This is what will help people searching for information to be able to make relevant searches throughout your website. You will be able to easily do instant marketing to people using search engines when you have site maps and links.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you will need to choose the most appropriate domain or URL that fits your business niche. A good trick to help you with search engine optimization is to use your main key word as your domain name.  For instance if your key word is penny auction, you will need to find a dot com domain name. If that is not available, you can opt for dot net or even dot org.

Action Steps:

  1. Create a keyword-rich landing page, using long-tail keywords.
  2. Create a sitemap.
  3. Work on building links to your site.
  4. Choose an appropriate domain name, preferably using one of your main keywords in the URL.
